Neurological Rehabilitation

Support for movement, balance and everyday independence following a neurological condition or event.

Neurological conditions and events — such as stroke, or conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord or nervous system — can affect movement, balance, coordination and confidence in different ways for different people.

How home physiotherapy can help

Your HSR physiotherapist carries out a detailed assessment of your current movement, balance and goals, then builds a realistic, paced rehabilitation plan around them. Practising movement and safety directly in your own home — your hallway, stairs, bathroom — is often more meaningful than practising in an unfamiliar setting, and allows family members or carers to be shown how to support you safely between visits.

Progress with neurological rehabilitation can take time, and your plan is reviewed regularly and adjusted as your needs and abilities change.

What a session may include

  • A detailed assessment of movement, balance and function
  • Goal-setting tailored to what matters most to you
  • A paced, progressive rehabilitation plan
  • Guidance for family members or carers, where welcomed
