Condition
Mobility, Balance & Elderly Care
Support for older adults and anyone managing reduced mobility, balance concerns, or falls risk, at home.

Reduced mobility and balance can develop gradually with age, after a fall, following illness, or alongside a joint or neurological condition. Addressing it early can make a meaningful difference to safety, confidence and independence at home.
How home physiotherapy can help
Your HSR physiotherapist will assess your strength, balance and walking, and talk through any recent falls or near-misses and the situations that worry you most. Because the assessment happens in your own home, your physiotherapist can also consider practical safety factors — loose rugs, lighting, awkward steps — alongside your physical assessment.
Treatment usually combines a progressive strength and balance programme with practical safety advice, and family members or carers are welcome to be involved.
What a session may include
- Assessment of strength, balance and walking
- A progressive, achievable exercise programme
- Practical home safety advice
- Guidance for family members or carers, where welcomed
This page relates closely to our elderly care & mobility service, and to arthritis and neurological rehabilitation where relevant.
