Neck Pain

Assessment and treatment for neck stiffness, pain and restricted movement, delivered at home.

Neck pain can show up as stiffness, a dull ache, or sharp pain when turning your head, and is often connected to posture, sleeping position, stress, or previous injury.

How home physiotherapy can help

Your HSR physiotherapist will assess the movement and muscles of your neck and upper back, alongside the everyday habits — your desk setup, your pillow, how you hold your phone — that may be contributing to your symptoms. Treatment is then built around what’s actually driving your specific presentation, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

A home visit is particularly useful here, since your physiotherapist can look directly at your workstation, chair or sleeping setup and offer practical adjustments alongside hands-on treatment and exercise.

What a session may include

  • Assessment of neck and upper back movement and muscle function
  • Hands-on treatment to ease stiffness and pain where appropriate
  • Guidance on workstation, posture and sleeping position
  • A tailored exercise programme to build strength and mobility

Neck pain following a road traffic collision or sudden jolt is covered in more detail on our whiplash page, and ongoing postural habits are addressed on our postural dysfunction page.
